AMIC's Tech Strategy Groups Shaping Manufacturing Innovation
TSGs empower manufacturers to co-create technology roadmaps and solve sector-wide challenges.

Last month, the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) convened its Technology Strategy Groups (TSGs) across three key capability areas - Digital Factory, Smart Design, and Sustainable Polymers & Composites, bringing together industry experts, academic partners, and technical leaders to drive the future of advanced manufacturing.
These industry-led TSGs serve as a dynamic collaboration platform, ensuring that industry insights inform AMIC's strategic priorities. By bringing together technical experts from across the sector, together with our academic partners from both Universities in Northern Ireland, the groups help shape technology roadmaps, identify high-impact projects, and address critical skills and investment needs to boost competitiveness.
Key Focus Areas of the TSGs Include:
✔ Developing technology strategies to enhance competitiveness in manufacturing
✔ Identifying and prioritising research projects for AMIC’s core programmes
✔ Addressing skills and training needs to build future-ready capabilities
✔ Recommending equipment and procurement strategies to support innovation
✔ Exploring funding opportunities to accelerate high-impact initiatives
The TSG model reflects AMIC's unique industry-first approach, with membership structured to ensure manufacturers maintain strategic control. The next phase will see TSG recommendations fast-tracked into AMIC's 2025/26 delivery plans, with industry partners co-developing implementation roadmaps.
