AMIC has established four capability groups underpinned by our research and industrial innovation strengths.

Digital Factory

Digital Factory brings together state-of-the-art facilities and a range of capabilities in manufacturing processes such as machining, automation, fabrication, assembly, and metrology, underpinning them with a data-centric approach to process control and optimisation for cost, quality, and carbon.

Sustainable Polymers & Composites

Sustainable Polymers and Composites integrates two existing innovation centres, the Polymers Processing Research Centre (PPRC) and NI Advanced Composites and Engineering (NIACE), to pool resources and strengths and build upon research strengths in Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University.

Smart Design

Smart Design brings a new innovation capability to NI, building on identified industry need, recognised as UK leading research strengths of both Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University and are designed to complement and augment the HVM Catapult and wider UK & Ireland innovation landscape.

Nanotechnology & Photonics

Nanotechnology/Photonics is a key capability area for AMIC and was identified in the Technology Roadmap as an area in which NI has a competitive position, building on the Strength in Places Smart Nano NI project.
