DEVELOPING AND INTEGRATING NEW TECHNOLOGY
Nanotechnology/Photonics is a key capability area for AMIC and was identified in the Technology Roadmap as an area in which NI has a competitive position, building on the Strength in Places Smart Nano NI project and services provided by QAMEC. There is a huge opportunity for AMIC to help create a resilient supply chain and ecosystem by playing a key role in the UK semiconductor strategy and leveraging expertise and investments across the island of Ireland.
FACTORY OF THE FUTURE
The Factory of the Future will be equipped with a class 5 and class 6 cleanroom and a segregated life sciences area. The core capability in photonics research, manufacturing, and nanotechnology is embedded with the strong smart-nano cluster in Northern Ireland with a mix of global sector leaders and scale-ups.
The current design and specification of cleanroom infrastructure is at a scale to be complimentary and of utility in this developing environment that gives AMIC the opportunity to support and attract business and be a node in wider UK programmes.
